  1. Hi, If i deploy a virtual machine in my environment, can I encrypt that VM using BitLocker?
    If I rent a virtual machine from a service provider can I encrypt that VM using BitLocker?
    If yes to either above…. can any external party, including the service provider, access the server (firsthand or via data collection scripts etc) to view what software is installed?

  2. For everyone who is doing this on a production server:
    Make sure to add a recovery Password to the Keyprotector store! If your TPM locks or dies, or your USB stick goes missing you will loose all data.
    Commands for PC with TPM:
    1. manage-bde -status
    2. manage-bde -protectors -add C: -TPM -RecoveryPassword
    3. (write down the code)
    4. manage-bde -on C:
    5. reboot

    Commands without TPM, D: is the USB Stick:
    (You need the USB Stick everytime you start the PC!)
    1. manage-bde -status
    2. manage-bde -protectors -add C: -RecoveryPassword -RecoveryKey D:
    3. (write down code)
    4. (enable show of hidden/system files, copy the created recoverykey from D: to a backup USB stick, if nessasary)
    5. manage-bde -on C:
