How to Make a Bootable Mac OS X Mountain Lion 10.8 USB Thumb Drive
– Purchase or Re-Download Mac OS X Mountain Lion 10.8 from the Mac App Store
– Find & right-click the “Install OS X Mountain Lion” application in your application’s folder
– Click on “Show Package Contents”
– Click on “Contents”
– Click on “Shared Support”
– Double-click to open & mount the “InstallESD.dmg” file.
– Open “Disk Utility” located in the Utilities folder in your Applications
– Click on your USB Thumb Drive or External Hard Drive
– Click on the tap “Restore”
– Drag the USB Thumb Drive or External Hard Drive to the “Destination” location
– Drag the Mac OS X Install ESD to the “Source” location.
– Hit “Restore”

  5. I am having macbook pro 2012 edition and it's OS is being corrupted so I wanted to install it using bootable USB drive. I use to make the USB bootable by following video and my Mac boots with that USB but the installation process is not completed successfully 🙁 In starting it asks 4 minutes and then simultaneously it gets increases.

  6. see the issue i am having is that i am using a PC to make this work and it's not working the way i need it to….UGH i have a program that sees mac files and will write and format to mac files system, i just need that file to reinstall mac again. i lost the CD and the SSD failed that was in the mac. now i i put new drive in and not i just need that .DMG file that's in 1:54.. could you help me with this?

  7. Thanks for the video, I'll try it on my Imac 2006 intel . Had Loin on it and I put to much ramm into it and it failed. if this dont work, it will make a nice picture frame.

  8. Not sure if anyone could help me but I recently got a mac that was preowned. I restarted the whole mac and did all the steps from apple.com. The problem is when I try to reinstall mountain lion it ask for a Apple ID. I put different ones in but when I click continue, it doesn't do anything. I'm not sure what to do and I would really like some help. Thank you

  10. Great video. One question. How come you didn't have to go into terminal?? Most videos i see dont use the restore feature. I like it though, seems more user friendly but whats the success rate?

  11. I have a problem I changed my hard drive with a new HDD but there’s a folder with a blinking question mark. I can’t do nuttin would this work if I us my 2011 system on my 2009 Mac
