HostGator has made using Fantastico for my WordPress installations a thing of the past– Quick Install seems to be a better option. So far, it is always up-to-date with the latest WP version, while Fantastico is usually a version or so behind. And it has installed WordPress smoothly every time for me, so no problems. And since Quick Install lets you choose your WP-admin user name now, there is no reason to use Fantastico.

  1. Thanks Mike, helps alot. Fantastico isn't on my HostGator. The tech support told me there were issues with Fantastico and it probably won't be made available anymore.

  2. Thanks for the help! Mine didn't go as smoothly in the last bit because it may be propagating so it may take 24-48 hours… (just in case anyone else experiences the same problem). If it doesn't work after that amount of time, you can call HostGator and they will help.

  3. I did all your steps however, I didn't get to the wordpress page.  I was directed to bluehost page because that's where my domain is currently parketd.  I subscribed to hostgator but my domain is with bluehost.  are they going to transfer my domain over for me or is this something I have to do myself?

  4. Hello,
I have a problem. yesterday i bought domain and web hosting from hostgator. After that i installed wordpress like you. then i wait about 13 hour and morning when i check my website there are written that "This domain is blocked". I can't figure out what happend and  first uninstall wordpress. And checked my site i saw that now it is works. I mean when you entered the site you saw only defaultsite. After that  again I installed the wordpress. now i am waiting about 5 hour but my site doesn't works. i got email about "Your installation is ready." but nothing change.. what i should to do? what is wrong? please help me.

  5. Hello, I've got a question. I did exactly the same as the video but when I click the link for the wordpress login page. It doesn't show the wordpress login page, instead it's a Page Not Found. what's wrong? I bought a hatchling plan, do i need to register a domain and pay again? or it;s included? your help would be much appreciated.

  6. Hi Mike, great tutorial! Unfortunately I am facing the page not found error, I am
    Moving from
WordPress.com to org with an existing domain I purchased through wordpress. I guess I have to wait a good 48hours or so…

Do you think it may be something else too?

  7. great video but i have one problem. I am getting this error "This Website is Under Construction. Come Back Soon.". I have installed/activated few themes in wordpress and also have posted few post still i am getting this error.  any suggestion?

  8. I want to ask that after i installed this ,and log in cpanel again i didnt see a wordpress logo in cpanel, should i see an additional wordpress logo(i mean not the install wordpress logo)  in cpanel after i have installed it?

  9. Hi there! Thanks so much for your tutorial. Still watching in 2016!
Unfortunately, I can't seem to get past the first stage. My chrome won't allow the website to load. It says that I need to enable cookies, but I have already done that. Any ideas? 🙂

  10. This is what I am constantly getting after doing what video did – 'This either means that the username and password information in your wp-config.php file is incorrect or we can’t contact the database server at localhost. This could mean your host’s database server is down.' What am I doing wrong. Only happens with Hostgator. had no probs with bluehost. Deleted all files undr FTP as directed and try to reinstall and still get same message. Aggravating!!

  11. Hello, I am not using hostgator. I am using the local hosting service in the country of Georgia. So when I go to my cPanel there is no quickinstall. Is there any chance of making it work otherwise?
I remember I did it las year, but i am not sure how. Or maybe something changed since then?
