  1. Enjoyed the flow you shared. I've followed your lead. Can not get MAMP to allow me to view the entire drop down menu under "Tools".

I get a grayed out view in the drop down window saying
“phpMyAdmin (needs PHP 5.5x to 7.0x)”

    (Keep up the good work!)

    Apalache (in NC)

  2. Many thanks for this this video, it was super clear and informative. This is the first comment I give to a youtube video, after watching hundreds of them. again: THANKS

  3. Wow! Thank you this is a great video. Amazingly clear step by step instructions! It saved me hours of reading and now I have a local WP site ready to go. Thank you also for having and amazingly good sound track, something for too often ignored on YouTube.

  4. I am so f*cked. I opened mamp and im on some php lite admin, I have no idea how to get it to regular phpadmin. I've created folders for wordpress (2) of them i unzipped it, and still nOTHING

  5. You are the best! You don't even understand. WordPress's 5 step installation is very non-user(me) friendly and this video has been the exact help I needed to get installed and running.

  6. 1. Thanks for all the views – I will try and focus more on WordPress Theme development videos if that interests everyone. I will also try and focus on taking what you can make locally and bring over to a live web host.
    2. If you are having phpmyadmin troubles (you can't get in or it's greyed out or light is not green on startup page), you may need to kill mysql processes then reboot. You can do this by following the instructions in this blog post I found:

  7. Hi. I got as far as installing WordPress. I created the site name, username, password etc. Clicked install. Got to the success page. But after clicking Login, I get HTTP ERROR 500. Any ideas?

  8. Looks like I am missing some files

  9. Hey guys,

I followed all the way until 6:33, I get the error message: The requested URL /wordpress/ was not found on this server. I am not sure how to fix this. Any help is appreciated. Thanks a lot.

  10. Below you should enter your database connection details. If you’re not sure about these, contact your host.

    Database Name

The name of the database you want to use with WordPress.
    Your database username.

    Your database password.

    Database Host

You should be able to get this info from your web host, if localhost doesn’t work.
    Table Prefix

If you want to run multiple WordPress installations in a single database, change this.

    Error establishing a database connection
This either means that the username and password information in your wp-config.php file is incorrect or we can’t contact the database server at localhost. This could mean your host’s database server is down.

Are you sure you have the correct username and password?
Are you sure that you have typed the correct hostname?
Are you sure that the database server is running?
If you’re unsure what these terms mean you should probably contact your host. If you still need help you can always visit the WordPress Support Forums.

    Try again

hi i am getting this error please can u tell me why i am getting this

  11. WordPress installation not working 🙁 when I go to local/wordpress and follow the steps to the famous "5 minute installation", I get stuck in step 2 after I entered all my login details and email address and I get this:

"This page isn’t working localhost didn’t send any data. ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE"

when I try to login, the system says that I already created an account even though I haven't. When I click forgot my password and enter my email, it says it's the wrong email address.

I tried deleting the wordpress folder from PHPmyAdmin and repeating the process several times, but still no luck. I also tried to use Safari vs. Chrome, but no difference.

I also tried changing the apache port from 9000 to 80 and MySQL port from 9001 to 3006. I also tried other combinations like 8888 and 8889

I am trying to download: WordPress 4.9.2 with MAMP free on a MAC MAC OS Sierra 10.12.4

  12. This was helpful. Now that I've reached this point where I have MAMP successfully running WordPress installed, I'm not successful in getting a pre-designed WordPress site to run locally on my computer. Please understand this site is not live. My designer changed his jobs and handed me the files of a nearly finished website. He told me to install MAMP and WordPress to run the site locally. I just can't figure out how to do this. Have you seen any tutorials or what I can read? Or do you have a video on this?

  13. When I go to my website on mamp I get this message, The virtual host was set up successfully.

If you can see this page, your new virtual host was set up successfully. Now, web content can be added and this placeholder page1 should be replaced or deleted.

    Server name: localhost
    Document root: C:/MAMP/htdocs

    1 Files: index.php and MAMP-PRO-Logo.png

  14. It doesn't connect! Help me! when I input the name of the database in the beginning along with the root username and stuff I get an error from wordpress it couldn't connect with my database, I did everything like you did in the video but it doesn't work for some reason, can anyone help me?

  15. Dude – appreciate this video. I'm not a web designer so things like this aren't native to me. You saved me a ton of cash by teaching me this rather than having to outsource it. This is the true definition of making content that provides value. Thank you.

  16. Hopefully this setup will prepare me for my potential job, got an interview next Monday for my first web development Ive just got to learn wordpress for it lol
