  1. I understand that, however, in the video tutorial it shows him having the option to choose the source. However, I don't. It simply automatically shows a Folder Icon with a question mark on it.

    Thanks anyway man

  2. I consider myself a computer-savvy person, but for some reason I couldn't get this method to work (specifically, the InstallESD.dmg file would not mount for the life of me and kept giving me errors). Instead, I used Lion DiskMaker (a free tool that came out after this video) which worked like a charm and took the guesswork out of everything. I highly recommend it for this purpose. Check it out at liondiskmaker[dot]com.

  3. Where is the logic of using a floppy drive. Macs dont have floppy drives. Your sense is dumb found and you should give up on everything. Go comment on gay rights, because you've earned it.

  4. Now, if one goes to the apple store, there is an option to "add to cart" and they write that one will receive a "content code" in an email. Will this work the same way to allow one to create a thumb drive version?

  5. After opening the Mountain Lion Installer.pkg, Contents contains no SharedSupport folder. So I cannot find a InstallESD.dmg.

I assume you need this because the Mountain Lion Installer above is tied to the machine that downloaded the software?

Or can I use the upper level Installer for upgrading a MBP from a Mac Mini Install pkg?

    Thanks,
    Chris

  6. So let's say your HD want bad! Thus being my case. You put in a New SSD and it it parttioned HFS active ect. The macbook pro in this case see's both USB bootable drive and the hard drive, Now why won't it install that os?? Why does it need everything pulled from the old machine? Why do you need to have special hardware to format it? I think that's kind of shady but it's mac. They did get caught slowing down there own phones I wonder if they do that with computers. I want to update and Boom the whole thing just crashed and burned..
