  1. Hi Guys, i've followed all the steps, but it keeps saying:
"Failed to start erase of disk due to error (-9999, 0).
A error occurred erasing the disk."

The code i've been using is:
    " sudo /Applications/Install OS X –volume /Volumes/Untitled –applicationpath /Applications/Install OS X –nointeraction
Does anyone have a clue about what's going wrong?

  2. So I'm able to follow you steps and successfully able to create the bootable usb, once I start the install it stops and says error or corrupted file. I tried creating the bootable usb again and it said the same thing once I tried to install it. Any suggestions?

  3. Hey,

I was thinking it would be nice if you just put in the description that you're basically using a MAC OS script file contained inside the Mavericks app folder to create the install media. That is the reason WHY for all of this.

It will save time for people that have already downloaded the Mavericks app but have it somewhere else.

Anyways, thanks for revealing that Apple basically did the work for us. I would have had to do it the hard way otherwise.

  4. Thanks for all the awesome info on your channel! I was wondering if you've ever seen this error: This tools is only compatible with the copy of Install OS X Mavericks that it was bundled in.
/Applications/ does not appear to be a valid OS installer application.

  5. Thanks for the instructions, very clear and helpful!
My son was pulling hair all day before see this video. He just bought an used Macbook Pro from a friend and was having trouble when they both trying reinstall OS X…

  6. sudo /Applications/Install OS X –volume /Volumes/untitled –applicationpath /Applications/Install OS X –nointeraction

  7. If you guys are wondering what is the code for OS Yosemite.. Here you go:

    sudo /Applications/Install OS X –volume /Volumes/NAME –applicationpath /Applications/Install OS X –nointeraction

Notice: Replace NAME with the name of the partition you have created.

  8. Ok, This vid is helpful. I have installed Yosemite. Question I have is: My original OS X was Snow Leopard, does this mean I can copy OS Yosemite to a Flash Drive and use it instead of Snow Leopard if ever I need to verify or repair disk?

  9. Thankyou. Looked at three other videos but yours was the easiest to follow and worked! One thing confused me and might be worth pointing out. When typing in the password nothing happens on the screen, so for a while I thought it was frozen.  Then I hit return in desperation and realised it had recorded the password without showing any activity on the screen as it then went on to do what you described.

  10. Question?  I checked my iTunes account on my Mac, and  I could not find OS X Yosemite.

While I do have the up to date version of OS X on my Mac, it was always downloaded automatically, never manually.

Based on the above, how do I download this to a USB thumb drive for later use, if its not listed in my iTunes?

  11. Hey Sakitech, thanks for a very good vid! I have a question: I'm installing OS X Yosemite, and using the command Donald here posted. When trying to enter my password in the Terminal I can't get no reaction from the Terminal. It will not let me type my password. Just freezes

    What to do?

  12. For El Capitan Use this command, replace UNTITLED with your partition name

sudo /Applications/Install OS X El –volume /Volumes/UNTITLED –applicationpath /Applications/Install OS X El –nointeraction

  13. Hi, I'm currently doing the terminal step and so far it hasn't got passed "copying installer files to disk" and has been like this for over half an hour. Any idea what's happening?
