  1. if you do this could you then plug in an external hdd and make a clone of the hhd as a back up ? ie another 2 1/2 " hdd so you have a drive you can just swap or replace if needed. many thanks

  2. Thanks for a good explanation on how to create the bootable USB stick.

Only one problem: I have already updated my OS X to the latest version of High Sierra (10.13.3). I learned that the High Sierra – once it has been downloaded – will be erased again and is not available for the said procedure ? True !?

Is the solution to download it again ?? Or what should I do ?

Finally: I don't have an "Option" key on my keyboard (MacBook Pro). I believe I should press "alt" instead in order to start the computer from the USB stick !?

  3. If you go to this link https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201372, it walks you through creating a bootable installer for macOS, and it has the command lines for each operating system. I discovered it after I couldn't make the commands work that were in the video.  I did appreciate the video taking me up to that point.  I also appreciate how he closes you out of the process.

  4. I watched the instructions a few time to become confident. Then did the erase 3 times to get the name correct. You must change the name in Disk Utilities. I copied and pasted Terminal instructions with ease. It took 30 minutes to copy the OS. Well done! Thanks

  5. Thank you though as this didn't work for me I found one that did. No negativity to this upload however if you want to see a quick and easy tutorial on creating a High Sierra Bootable USB I used this tutorial after this one didn't work for me.

  6. EVERYONE!!!: If you have a problem with the terminal try to change the name with a lowercase I and make sure it is the same as the name of your disk name

also Sakitech you should have had posted a terminal command for people who are trying to make bootable USB's for other ISO's, I need a Bitdefender Rescue USB and this was useful until the terminal part, you should have a blank command that tells us how to input our own directories and what not

  7. I have run the script and worked fine and I have the bootable USB. I restart and start the installation. Comes to the step of choosing the drive, It does not recognize my internal hard drive. It only shows these disks, VM , pre boot, USB.

Is there something else i need to do?
