The Blackmagic is FANTASTIC quality with only two downfalls: compatibility and file size. Now file size is to be expected as the quality is unmatched by other capture cards such as the Elgato and the Roxio, but when they say make sure your system is compatible otherwise it wont work, they REALLY mean it. Windows 7 64 bit was one of the requirements…UNTIL NOW! Windows 8 has had numerous issues with Blackmagic but that’s due to the way Windows 8 treats the USB drivers, luckily this work around fixes this issue and is quite easy to do.

The Blackmagic Intensity Shuttle for USB 3.0 often causes issues with Windows 8 including freezing, the blue screen of death and other bugs. Today Marcus shows you exactly how he fixed all of these issues for his old budget friendly laptop to get you back in the business of recording videos!

  1. Just to let everybody know that this procedure works but only for Win 8 and previous versions.

I am running Win 8.1 and found out (on the url posted in the description) that you can follow this same tutorial but the USB3.0 files for win 8.1 and 10 you will need are different, or else windows will not update the drivers (it will tell you that the current drivers are the most up to date so it will not overwrite them).

I personally used the "64bit Intel USB 3.0 Drivers v4.0.4.51 mod+signed by Fernando" and it did the trick.

You can find several of the USB 3.0 drivers here (again, i got the URL from the comments)

This tutorial helped a lot, thank you (i now have an issue because i get no audio from HDMI input/output, but i guess i'll have to sort that out somewhere else).

    Thanks again.
